More Waste

No wonder Shortshanks is looking at a $600 million hole in his budget. These nickels and dimes add up:
  • On Labor Day 2000, folks in Pullman had reason to celebrate.

They had just gotten news their historic neighborhood's "heart and soul" -- the charred ruin of Market Hall -- would rise again after 27 years of blight.

A $1.1 million state grant from the Illinois FIRST public works fund was going to ensure that.

  • The taxpayer money that was supposed to bring it back -- the state cash plus $200,000 from the City of Chicago -- is gone.
This and a thousand other projects like it - flush the money down the toilet and never attempt to recover a thing. The Daley-way.
