Doesn't anyone connect the dots? Anyone?
- A politically connected Cook County state's attorney's office employee threatened to use her position to expose her ex-boyfriend as a federal informant against the Outfit, voice mail messages played in court suggest.
Prosecutors are investigating two cell phone messages that narcotics unit administrator Patti Simone left the father of her children, Nicky Rosales, during a bitter split earlier this year, Cook County State's Atty. Anita Alvarez's spokeswoman Sally Daly said.
Just a domestic squabble? Not really:
- Simone was once spokeswoman for former State's Atty. Richard Devine but now makes $67,000 a year working in Alvarez's narcotics unit. She has continued to work at the Cook County Criminal Court building since the tapes surfaced.
She is the daughter of Palos Township Democratic Committeeman Sam Simone.
The godfather to her children is Richie "The Cat" Catazone, reputed to run the Chicago Outfit's 26th Street gambling operation, while Rosales' cousin is convicted mob hit man Harry Aleman, Rosales said.
So a woman with "family" connections is working in the State's Attorneys office, close to all sorts of sensitive information of ongoing investigations, wiretaps, trials, etc., and no one blinks an eye?
Well why would they? It's not like the mayor's brother is married to the daughter of another Outfit connected family, is it? And John Kass hasn't written a series of articles about the mayor riding around in golf carts with known associates of Organized Crime groups. Or certain "minority" front companies landing all sorts of contracts aren't owned by people with all sorts of odd associations to underworld figures.
The mind boggles.
