Media Catches Up

North side crime wave continues:

• In the sixth similar violent incident on the North Side, a man was beaten and robbed by four men who beat him and stole his cell phone while he was walking early Monday in the Lake View neighborhood.

  A 24-year-old man was walking at 4:50 a.m. on the 3300 block of North Halsted Street when four men who appeared to be black attacked him, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

Whoa, wait a minute. The news reported what the News Affairs Officer said? With a description of the offenders? What's the world coming to?

• One of the attackers was wearing black clothing and clothing on the other three -- one of whom had light skin and was possibly Hispanic, was not known, according to Perez.

  The latest incident occurred late Monday in Lincoln Park.

  At 10:55 p.m. the man was walking his bike to his car when he was attacked by three men at the intersection of West Fullerton Parkway and North Cannon Drive, police said.

  The attackers -- two black men and one Hispanic who was wearing a white hat -- began throwing punches at him and beating him, according to police who said the victim fought them off by using a chain from his bike.

Holy crap, that's a whole bunch of descriptions there. From the Sun Times of all outlets. Must be some really drunk editors over there letting this go through.
