- The mother of a 16-year-old boy shot and killed by police during a foot chase last month filed a wrongful-death lawsuit today against the city of Chicago and the police officers involved in the incident.
After the shooting, which occurred the night of July 2, police said Rakeem Nance pointed a gun at officers who were pursuing him through an alley in the 1900 block of South Christiana Avenue. One of the officers fired at Nance, hitting him. He died at a local hospital a short time later.
According to the lawsuit Nance, of the 1900 block of South Troy Street, was shot several times in the back and "was not armed with a gun or weapon of any type" at the time of the shooting.
Somehow, the lawsuit doesn't explain how a gun was recovered at the scene. Nor why young Rakeem was running around dressed in dark clothing and a mask. Here's the most unbelievable part of the whole article though:
- The suit was filed for Doris Burford as special administrator of Nance's estate, by the law firm [money grubbing bottom feeders LLC]
He was 16-years-old, never held a job, stopped going to school a year ago, had a budding record as a burglar/home invader, and was raised by a fourth generation welfare leech - but he has an estate? Give us a fucking break. He was born to be a lottery ticket and momma is trying to cash him in.
Here's where a real superintendent would ignore the "we don't comment on pending litigation" BS and go to town on this deranged segment of society that seeks a payout because they raised an asshole who managed to get killed while being an asshole.
