No Midway Sale for Now

Guess those budget issues aren't so pressing at the moment?
  • Mayor Daley said today he’s in no rush to revive the failed $2.5 billion deal that would have privatized Midway Airport — not after the pricetag for London’s Gatwick Airport fell far short of expectations.

“It’s a long way off. … You have to make sure the market is there,” Daley said of the Midway deal that collapsed last spring for lack of financing.

Why even sell it when he can "offer" it up for sale and pocket a cool $126 million when the sale falls through?
  • Last spring, the Midway deal collapsed for lack of financing, leaving taxpayers with a $126 million down payment, but no apparent way to shore up city pensions and rebuild Chicago's aging infrastructure.
Anyone see where that cash went?
