Killing Crime...Again?

Has anyone heard that they're doing away with the "hotel/motel" rule? We got an e-mail or two recently:

• in an email sent to [...] supervisors in the Forensic Service Section, only one case report number will be obtained in the event that multiple burglaries take place in one building. Ex: 3 condos in one building are broken into - in the past, of course, that would be 3 different locations (3 diff unit #s). Now, it will be one RD# with all victims listed on one report. And the killing of crime commences!

Hey, if they can make homicides "death investigations," then combining burglaries isn't a big deal.

No wonder the FBI refuses to use Chicago crime statistics in any of their publications.
