The Central Control Group, also known playfully as "Area 6" or "Sgt. Keating's Funland" is having problems. You've got your run-of-the-mill domestics with shotguns:

• A husband and wife have been charged after the woman allegedly fired a shotgun -- through a wall into a neighbor's home -- during a domestic incident Wednesday night in their home in a trendy Lakeshore East apartment tower.
  
  The incident started with a 911 call about 11:15 p.m. by a person at The Tides, 360 E. South Water St., who complained that neighbors were fighting. That same person made a second 911 call shortly afterward indicating a shot had been fired and shotgun pellets had come through the wall into their apartment, police said. No one was injured.

And then the incidents the media won't report:

• I am not saying 018 is the ghetto by any means. However I have worked in the ghetto for over 17yrs and 018 is on the way to ghetto land.
  
  Last night was the first warm night and you guessed it.......The wildings and gang fights were all over the lakefront and the rush [street] corridor. Mobs and mobs of gang fights and at least 3 stabbings in and around the beach next to Navy Pier.

It's like a year-round "Third of July" all of the sudden. And the tourists aren't going to stick around once the word starts to filter out.

Club Deportivo Mac Allister

02.04.2010 - Recorriendo las pampas de nuestro querido y futbolero país, desde donde dicen “salen jugadores de debajo de las piedras” encontramos una impresionante red de clubes sociales y deportivos que pugnan por ganar torneos y clasificaciones en las inmensas ligas del interior.

Sin ambiciones de totalidad o enumeración, creemos que, en un recorrido de muchos kilómetros y diversos paisajes, es bueno detenerse cada tanto.

Sobre el km 602 de la Ruta 5, a cinco kilómetros de la ciudad de Santa Rosa, capital de La Pampa, encontramos, nada más ni nada menos que el Club Deportivo Mac Allister.

Después de una breve experiencia con una escuela de fútbol y la vigente de representación de jugadores, el benemérito, colorado y calvo Carlos Javier, junto a su hermano Carlos Patricio, compró un predio de 4 hectáreas en su Pampa natal y fundó el club propio (1998), cuyo hallazgo estrella, hasta el momento, es Franco Cángele (ex campeón con Boca, hoy en el Kayserispor de Turquía).

El Deportivo Mac Allister es un club dedicado especialmente a la práctica de fútbol con el objetivo de descubrir, formar y promocionar futbolistas para su posterior inserción en el fútbol profesional y, desde su fundación (1998), participa en los torneos oficiales que organiza la Liga Local para cada una de sus categorías juveniles e infantiles.

Técnico, dirigente, mánager, intermediario, representante, ex jugador, periodista y pelado, Mac Allister no parece abandonar su conglomerado.

El club sigue organizando los scoutings anuales, donde llegan players de todo el país, de Venezuela, Colombia y otros países para someterse por unos quince días a los campus intensivos y ser presentados a los a los coordinadores de fútbol amateur de los equipos profesionales de Argentina, en programas que incluyen alojamiento con pensión completa (desayuno, almuerzo y cena), traslados al Club Deportivo Mac Allister, ropa de entrenamiento, todas las actividades teóricas y prácticas detalladas “a cargo del más destacado equipo de profesionales”. Incluso los viajes pueden ser tratados por Mac Allister Travel.

Los Carlos Mac Allister, polifuncionales y asociados a La Cumbre S.R.L., también hacen asesoramiento de imagen y publicidad, recomiendan, representan y transfieren jugadores. Ezequiel Benavídez de Boca a Tiro Federal, Hernán Barcos de Rácing a Liga de Quito y Gonzalo Cabrera de Boca a Deportivo Cali fueron las últimas transacciones.

Ten Shot in 007 Overnight?

As of this moment, we can only find reports on 7. But it's early, the media hasn't woken up yet and the spin machine at 35th Street isn't up to speed:

• Six people were wounded near 66th Street and Marshfield Avenue on the South Side this morning in two separate shootings, one after police arrived to investigate the first incident.
  
  About 1½ hours earlier two blocks away, another shooting claimed the life of a 30-year-old man, but police said they had no reason to believe that was connected to the later shootings.
  
  At the Marshfield site, "we (initially) treated four victims, all in serious to critical conditions," said Larry Langford, a spokesman for the Fire Department. One of the men was shot multiple times. But once we began to stand down and pull out, someone drove near where police were situated and began shooting. Two other people were shot in that incident."

So even at crime scenes where the police are known to be responding or already at, the criminals are returning and firing more shots at targets of opportunity. This is insane. We lost an officer this way once already. The only explanation that comes to mind is that the gangs know we don't have the manpower to secure a scene or multiple scenes and effectively patrol the area thereafter. And when the gangs know we're shorthanded, they're going to take full advantage of the situation.

That they are already doing it doesn't bode well for the summer.

02.04.2010 - EUROPA LEAGUE - Lo ganaba Liverpool con ese gol de Daniel Agger en el minuto 9. Desde entonces Benfica fue y fue pero no pudo penetrar al Liverpool más que por dos penales sancionados por el particular árbitro sueco Jonas Eriksson que trocara por goles (pateando al mismo palo) Óscar Cardozo (´59 y ´79).
