A 34-year-old man who died following a struggle with an employee of a Little Village drug store he allegedly robbed Saturday was strangled, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy performed today at the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Chicago police today could not say whether any charges will be filed against the employee, saying only the investigation into Anthony Kyser's death was ongoing.
Authorities said Kyser was shoplifting from a CVS Pharmacy in the 2600 block of South Pulaski Road just before 11 a.m. Saturday. He was chased out of the store and ran into an alley next to the building. Kyser fell unconscious during a struggle with the employee of the pharmacy, officials said.
There's a reason stores have a "no chase" policy and stick the rest of us with higher prices to cater to the criminal element - liability. But we think a few more random stranglings might send the message to habitual shoplifters to knock off that shit. Prices might come down for the rest of us, too.
