Expensive 911 Calls

This would be one way to cut down on all the nonsense calls we end up answering:
  • Tracy [California] residents will now have to pay every time they call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency.

But there are a couple of options. Residents can pay a $48 voluntary fee for the year which allows them to call 9-1-1 as many times as necessary.

Or, there's the option of not signing up for the annual fee. Instead, they will be charged $300 if they make a call for help.
People would learn to solve a lot of their own problems rather than pay $300 to have us tell them that we can't make junior eat his veggies, that it's their responsibility to take Sally to school and if they don't want to be in love anymore, then someone better find a new place to live.

But for some reason, having 10 or more calls after the dope dealer gets shot on the tip making the city $3,000 brings a smile to our faces.
