- Three people were critically injured and one person was shot dead by Chicago Police Wednesday night in the Southeast Side's South Shore neighborhood.
Emergency crews responded to the shooting at 71st Street and Paxton Avenue at 6:57 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
Police were responding to a call of an aggravated battery at the address and discovered three gunshot victims. A fourth victim was shot by police at 71st and Merrill Avenue, according to a police source.
No word if the fourth person shot was the offender from the first triple shooting. But it was a busy 24 hours all around town:
- A 16-year-old boy was shot to death Wednesday morning in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, making him the 35th Chicago Public Schools student killed by violence this school year.
- A man and teenage boy were seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting early Wednesday in the South Side’s Gresham community.
- A man was critically wounded when he was shot five times Tuesday night in the South Side’s Washington Park neighborhood.
Careful out there. It's dangerous.
