Homicides Drop

  • Homicides dropped 20 percent in Chicago for the first four months of 2009 compared to the same period a year earlier, according to preliminary statistics released Friday.

There were 108 homicides through April, 26 fewer than for the same period in 2008, officials said. Violent crime dropped 2.8 percent and property crime fell almost 10 percent, police officials said.
20% is significant - it sounds good. 26 less isn't as impressive - an no mention of Aggravated Batteries with handguns, which climbed quite a bit. Bad shots and good doctors are saving a lot of people who otherwise might have died.

So since we're doing such a great job, where's our great contract?
