- A Chicago city council committee has voted to approve a mandatory five-day jail sentence for anybody caught with an illegal gun.
The five days in jail would be for the first offense: Caught with an unauthorized gun in the city of Chicago.
The proposal was approved by the city council police and fire committee at the insistence of some West Side aldermen, including committee chairman Alderman Isaac Carothers.
Seems a waste of time - they have to be convicted in a Cook County court first of all - that might take a year or two. And once they get probation for whatever assault, robbery, battery or murder they are convicted of, they might serve county time or downstate time.
But it seems truly silly that Ike, who is under a Federal indictment, wore a wire, and if reports are to be believed, will shortly plead guilty to some sort of mail fraud and fixing charges, is still allowed to serve and propose laws that will have absolutely no impact on crime whatsoever. None. Five days? Ike, you're a moron. Just shut up, dance to the tune your federal handlers are playing for you, and go serve your Club Fed time with some modicum of shame.
