• Using a newfangled probability model, Chicago Public School officials have identified the 1,200 Chicago public high school students most likely to be gunshot victims -- and will direct millions in resources to help them this school year, Schools CEO Ron Huberman revealed Thursday.

  "These kids are in trouble, and we need to help them,'' Huberman said as he unveiled a $30 million plan to stem the student shooting deaths that have traumatized the nation's third-largest school system for several years.

  "By changing [student] behavior,'' Huberman said, officials hope to "almost totally stop the youth violence problem'' in Chicago.

$30 million spent to protect for what all intents and purposes are 1,200 assholes who don't want to be in school, have been socially promoted despite failing every single grade, constantly disrupt classes where kids want to learn and take up inordinate amounts of teacher time that could be spent elsewhere. As one reader pointed out, they are spending $25,000 per asshole.

Here's a better idea:

• Sterilize each of the 1,200 to break the cycle of stupidity;
• Build a maximum security "school" with bars on the windows and surrounded by razor wire - it'll will get them acclimated to their future lodgings;
  
• Offer advanced degrees in "Expressway Litter Control" - it'll be great training should they actually survive into their 20's;
• Buy a term life insurance policy on each asshole with a big payout so the taxpayers actually see a profit on their investment rather than pouring $30 million in tax money that we'll never see again;

All that would cost considerably less than $30 million and the potential payout in insurance money would be enough to fund the Olympic dream.
