Gun Wielding Assailant Killed

The BreakingNews.com headline actually reads, "Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man on S. Side" so they're actually getting closer to being accurate. Cops go home safe.
  • Chicago police shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at officers as he attempted to escape out a window of his home in the West Englewood neighborhood this evening, authorities said.

The police-involved shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. outdoors in the 6300 block of South Hermitage Avenue, said Independent Police Review Authority spokesman Mark Payne. Wentworth Area police detectives arrived at the home to arrest the man, who was "wanted on an investigative alert," when he attempted to escape through a window, police said in a news release.

As the man exited, he aimed a gun at officers, causing police to fire multiple shots at the man. The shots knocked him to the pavement below his window, the release said.
Good job officers and detectives.
