Chicago FOP Lodge #7 held its monthly General Meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. A motion was made from the floor to issue a vote of No Confidence in Chicago Police Superintendent Jody P. Weis. The motion received a second and was put to the members for a vote.
Lodge members voted unanimously to adopt the motion.
We are hearing it was the most well attended meeting in years. Even we had trouble finding a seat. Breaking News.com has some coverage and J-Fed is fighting back:
We won't pretend that this is any more scientific than the Union vote, but we get around 9,000 visits a day, so it'll be a much larger sampling.
- Weis issued the following statement:
"I will strive everyday to serve those that I lead with honesty, integrity, and hard work. I have my team working on building greater business efficiencies into the Department to make better use of our personnel to fight crime and build relations with our customers, the citizens of Chicago."
"While I am disappointed by the Union's actions, I am not surprised by this voice vote of 160 individuals. There are over 13,500 sworn members of this Department. It is for them, and for the residents of the City of Chicago, that I work hard for everyday."
We won't pretend that this is any more scientific than the Union vote, but we get around 9,000 visits a day, so it'll be a much larger sampling.
