A CTA employee who contracted Legionnaires' disease died over the weekend, officials said today.
Robert Pierce, 37, a CTA electrician who worked most recently at CTA facilities at Midway Airport and at another Southwest Side location, died Sunday at Edward Hospital in Naperville, according to the DuPage County coroner's office.
They said no autopsy will be performed on Pierce, of the 1700 block of Hidden Oaks Court in Plainfield, who died of pneumonia that he developed as a complication to Legionnaires' disease.
