- A deadly shootout in Times Square on Thursday sent tourists scrambling and police rushing to the scene. It all began when an undercover officer recognized an illegal street peddler.
It appears from what the NYPD said after the incident the gunman came to Times Square with the expectation that he'd be confronted by police, given the weaponry he had and the note in his pocket. - ...police found a business card from the Virginia gun shop where they believe the [stolen] gun came from.
"Handwritten on the back of that business card words to the effect of I pity the cop who is going to put me or has the nerve to put me in his paddy wagon," NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
Sounds like a set-up that went completely wrong for the criminal. Boo-hoo. Great job by the NYPD.
