Not Very Peaceful Ending

  • A vehicle struck a Chicago Police officer during an incident where an officer shot a person, leaving them in “very critical” condition, late Wednesday on the Northwest Side.

Grand Central Area Gang Enforcement Team officers were conducting a narcotics surveillance about 11:15 p.m. in the 6200 block of West Wabansia Ave. after obtaining information that narcotics and weapons would be moved at that location, according to a statement from police News Affairs.

The officers observed the suspect enter a vehicle and drive away and the officers attempted to stop the vehicle near North Moody and West Wabansia avenues, according to the statement.

The officers exited their vehicle and approached the suspect, who then accelerated his vehicle toward the officers, striking one of them, the statement said.

Officers are reportedly all OK.
