- On the first day of the city's overnight parking ban there were more cars towed from the 107 miles of streets where the ban is in effect than were towed on the same day last year or the year before.
From 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, city crews towed 234 cars parked on streets where parking is not allowed in the overnight hours from Dec. 1 through April 1, according to a release from the Department of Streets and Sanitation.
Those streets are considered “critical arterial streets” and, snow or no snow, parking is not allowed overnight.
We're willing to bet many of these cars were avoiding parking boxes or new neighborhood meters and got hammered with $210 worth of pain. We also imagine there are at least 234 more foot soldiers in the fight versus Shortshanks. If only they had read the blog, we posted warnings.
