With forecasts of snow expected to affect rush hour traffic Monday morning, and a winter storm predicted for this week, some Chicagoans decided it would be a good idea if they spent part of their Sunday shopping for salt and snow blowers.
According to the National Weather Service, a dusting of snow is expected between 4 a.m. and noon Monday, possibly affecting traffic in the morning, meteorologist Andy Boxell said.
But another winter storm forecast to start late afternoon or early evening Tuesday--in some places to include snow, rain and sleet--could bring four to five inches of snow across the downtown area by mid-day Wednesday. In some parts of Chicagoland, the accumulation may likely reach up to 6 to 10 inches.
And of course, this means that Snow Tows will be in full force, including the additional 500 miles of No Parking on arterial streets. Word is that Meter Maids and TMA's are being equipped with snow brushes to make sure all street parking in the neighborhoods have their little parking box slips properly displayed.
