An 18-year-old man — already charged with murder — was charged in a separate incident Sunday for opening fire on seven people on a West Side street last Tuesday.
Hakeem Redmond, of the 3300 block of West Roosevelt Road, was charged with seven counts of aggravated battery with a firearm for shooting seven people July 28 in the 3400 block of West Walnut Street, according to police News Affairs.
Redmond allegedly shot seven males, including at least two teens, near Walnut Street and Homan Avenue at 10:43 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. Most of the seven males shot were on a sidewalk when Redmond began firing shots towards them, police said.
Redmond was previously charged on July 31 for fatally shooting a 22-year-old man on the West Side who was found in a vacant lot.
Someone name the judge.
UPDATE: Ok, this appears to be a continuing investigation where the shooter was apprehended when someone decided to name him for the multiple shooting on Homan/Walnut and then the detectives backtracked him to the homicide and charged him. So he wasn't let to bail, but rather had his own little mini-crime spree underway when arrested. Hopefully, he's seen the last of daylight for a while.
